National Institute of Technology (NIT) Meghalaya, invites applications
for admission to the Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programme starting in
July 2019 (Autumn 2019) under Full time and Sponsored (part-time)
categories.

Categories of PhD Students:
The Institute shall admit Ph. D students under the following categories:
Full Time: Scholars under this category shall work full time for the PhD courses/research. They may receive fellowship offered by the Institute as per MHRD norms / TEQIP guidelines or other funding agencies. http://nitmeghalaya.in/nitm/phd_scholarship.html
Sponsored (Part-Time):Employees from Industries, Corporate Houses, Research and Development (R and D) Organizations and Faculties of Senior Colleges with minimum working experience of 5 years, out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, will be eligible for applying to the Sponsored (Part Time) PhD Programme.
Eligibility:
For Full Time Scholars: Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA with valid GATE score will also be eligible.
For Sponsored (Part Time Scholars): Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible
Candidate’s age should not be more than 58. A certificate/declaration of sponsorship from the sponsoring body must be submitted by the applicant at the time of applying for application and admission process.
Relaxation for SC/ST/PWD Candidates
Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category applicants as per GOI Norms.

Application fees of Rs. 500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates to be paid via online. No application fee to be paid by PWD candidates.
The status regarding the selection of candidates for the admission to the PhD Programme will be available at institute website (http://nitmeghalaya.in/nitmeghalaya ) in due course. Shortlisted candidates will be informed through email only from NIT Meghalaya.

- Last date for receipt of hard copy of application by post: 10th May, 2019, 5:00 PM.
- Notification of Shortlisted Candidates for PhD Programme: 17th May, 2019.
- Written Test and Interview (Candidates are advised to make a plan for stay of 2 days {if required}): 24th May, 2019.
- Display of Selected Candidates: 28th May, 2019.
